What You Will Do :

We are currently searching for a Grants Management Specialist. This role would advise regarding the oversite of NINR’s Technology Grant Portfolio, which includes serving as Coordinator of NINR’s SBIR and STTR Programs. This is a part-time remote opportunity located in Baltimore, MD.

  • Perform advanced analysis of grant program, applications, and procedures to enhance problem-solving, fill gaps of information, foster decision-making and promote an area of science.

  • Resolve grant-related issues, working with scientific and administrative personnel and with similar staff of grantee organizations.

  • Apprise staff of issues and problems that could cause grant awards to be late or delayed.

  • Communicate with appropriate Program Officer and Grantee Sponsored Research Administrator when questions arise.

  • Collaborate with staff to use guidelines and policies for specific situations utilizing NIA, NIH, and HHS grants administration sources.

  • Assist staff to manage and coordinate develop and maintain annual grant portfolio and provide administrative support for the Grants Management Branch for the review of grant applications and resolve which involves a wide variety of problems and situations pertaining to the grant functions.

  • Assist staff review annual grant progress reports and new grants for conformity to Institute policy, compliance with Federal regulations, and consistency with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

  • Provide advice, assist staff interpret and prepare guidance interpretation and guidance on statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures as they related to the award grant program in general and as related to individual awards.

  • Assist staff review and evaluate for accuracy and completeness competing and non-competing grant applications.

  • Assist staff review grant applications for policy and regulatory compliance and report issues.

  • Draft correspondence to address any administrative or management issues related to grant applications.

  • Conduct administrative and financial review of grant applications.

  • Collect and analyze administrative data from applications and proposals and write analytic reports.

  • Perform queries of grant management applications and systems and prepare summaries of results.

  • Bring to attention of staff areas needing additional policies or procedures and contribute comments and suggestions on new policies, revisions, justifications for changes, etc.

  • Provide advice to program staff, applicants, and grantees on administrative and business management issues.

  • Monitor the status of grant application proposal processing and receipt by the IC Review Program.

  • Work with staff on pre- and post-award activities, including the preparation of grant awards.

  • Collect and assemble documentation on grant applications that have been selected for funding for review and approval.

  • Provide consultations to the potential grantee community to assist them in their submission of applications to the NIH.

  • Parent Announcements and NINR’s Technology-specific Program Announcements (PAs), and the Omnibus SBIR and STTR Funding Opportunity Announcements.

What You Will Need :

  • Master's Degree OR Bachelor’s degree PLUS Three (3) years of specialized experience is equivalent to a Master’s degree.

  • A minimum of TWO (2) years of experience in grants management or similar experience.

  • Experience in grant policy and regulations and grant administration.

  • Experience with small business outreach.

What Would Be Nice To Have :

  • Preferred a minimum of FIVE (5) years of experiences in grants management or similar experience.

  • Previous experience with the National Institute of Health (NIH).
