What You Will Do :

We are currently searching for a Data Analyst for Dietary Behavior Research. This position reports to the Section Chief for The Dietary Behaviors and Biopsychosocial Section of the Translational Biobehavioral and Health Disparities Branch of the NIH Clinical Center. Primary responsibilities include data entry, management and analysis for clinical studies looking at the intersection of nutrition, diet, and bio-psycho-social health. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.

  • Coordinate and perform data entry.

  • Perform routine and general data management.

  • Maintain data for past and present studies.

  • Develop and maintain data management and quality assurance/quality control procedures that improve the transparency, consistency, accuracy, and comparability of data which supports the integrity of research.

  • Allocate quality assurance resources to ensure data validity and fidelity.

  • Work with staff to gather and analyze information from users, primarily principal investigators (PIs), needed for the development or modification of Case Report Forms (CRFs) and accompanying interface relating to data collection, storage, and access.

  • Assist in data collection at multiple locations including Clinical Center, community study intervention site, or remote.

  • Organize data to provide functional reporting that includes, but is not limited to, create data workflow processes, ensure that appropriate variables are captured in the constructed databases, format databases to allow merging of spreadsheets for statistical analyses and to optimize planned analyses, record data into a format appropriate for processing, apply statistical techniques to produce meaningful tables and graphs using appropriate software and work with staff to prepare and standardize data for the database.

  • Work with staff to prepare and standardize data for the database such as creating systematic documentation on reporting (completeness, changes, or errors), providing draft results and output for statistician review, compiling results of analysis projects into detailed reports, working with staff to curate data, retrieve records, and generate reports, completing data analyses, and assisting with draft manuscript for study results.

  • Provide support for all data sharing related activities; create and maintain data access and data submission tracking systems and reports to be presented to senior program leadership.

  • Assist with coordination of statistical data analysis for numerous ongoing studies by collecting, organizing, and tracking information.

  • Identify possible trends and patterns in the data; communicate relevant findings that support problem solving and decision making.

What You Will Need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • At least ONE (1) year of data analysis experience.

  • Knowledgeable in standard statistical modeling tools such as R, SPSS, etc.

What Would Be Nice To Have :

  • Be familiar with concepts such as scientific data analysis, statistical modeling, database management and data presentation.

  • Experience working at the NIH beneficial.
